HUDSON - County commissioners, a state senator, doctor and other community leaders will encourage children to develop the reading habit during appearances at county libraries next month.
The Leaders Are Readers program helps promote Library Card Sign-Up Month at the Pasco libraries, Linda Bragg, a spokeswoman for the county library system, explains.
The local leaders will visit library branches to read to younger children during story time hours to speak to teens about leadership.
First up is Dr. Rao Musunuru of Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. The cardiologist will appear at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Hudson Regional Library, 8012 Library Road.
Chief Assistant County Administrator Michele Baker will take her turn at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at the Hudson library.
Commissioner Pat Mulieri will appear at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Land O' Lakes Branch Library, 2818 Collier Parkway.
At 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, Pasco Commissioner Ann Hildebrand will be at Centennial Park, 5740 Moog Road.
Supervisor of Elections Brian Corley is up next at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, also at Centennial Park.
State Sen. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey, will visit children at Regency Park Branch Library, 9701 Little Road, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17.
Pasco School Superintendent Heather Fiorentino gets her turn at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, also at Regency Park.
County Administrator John Gallagher is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Regency Park.
Pasco Commissioner Michael Cox will visit Regency Park at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29.
