Couple Perform at Sam's Hudson Beach Restaurant

When Tara D'Amico was 5, she was quite the performer. She remembers singing for elderly neighbors who visited her parents and at the Tarpon Springs Moose Lodge, in Holiday, in elementary school while growing up in New Port Richey.

D'Amico is still singing. These days, she is half of the duo Take Two. Her partner is husband Chris D'Amico. Chris also grew up in New Port Richey. Both are graduates of Gulf High School.

The two are regulars at Sam's Hudson Beach Restaurant, in Hudson. They will appear there on Friday, Sept. 5. They do a variety of music, including top 40, country, oldies and classic rock.

They describe their act as high-energy entertainment with frequent interaction with the audience.

Their versatility makes them stand out, Chris explained. "We do a little bit of everything. We keep people dancing all night."

Chris has also had his share of musical experience as a child, beginning with teaching himself to play the guitar when he was 14. As an adult, he toured the southeast with the band Widow.

For the past 11 years, he has been with First Born, a band that won Best Metal Band and Best Metal Album in the 1994 Tampa Bay Metal Awards. He has recorded seven studio albums with various bands.

Both the D'Amicos have day jobs, she as an insurance agent, he as a foreman for a construction company.

But their music is their first love. "It's not our job," Tara said. "We do it for our passion."
