HOLIDAY - Two Pasco County employees were recently honored by the Holiday Rotary Club for their bravery in assisting traffic accident victims.
In addition, the men from the Pasco County survey division, Ron Roulette and Greg Dowdy, were named the county's employees of the month for September.
On Sept. 19, Roulette and Dowdy were staking the right-of -way for a water line on S.R. 54 near the intersection with Sunlake Boulevard, according to Debora Diaz, Holiday Rotary Club publicity chairwoman.
About 2 p.m., they heard a noise like scraping metal; looked up and noticed a small truck sliding down the road upside down. Dowdy immediately called 911 and then directed vehicles around the wreck.
Roulette checked the occupants of the vehicle to find that they had no serious injuries. He then helped the people get out of the overturned vehicle. Roulette provided aid until firefighters and paramedics arrived.
Roulette and Dowdy are to be commended for their quick thinking and responsiveness," Diaz said in a press release. "They are a credit to their division and Pasco County."
The Holiday Rotary Club took over the employee of the month program when Kiwanis was no longer able to maintain the service. The program has been in existence for more than 15 years.
At the end of the year a committee will review all 12 winners to choose an employee of the year.
Each month Holiday Rotary Club provides lunch for the honored employee and the supervisor, along with a certificate of appreciation.
The Holiday Rotary Club meets every Tuesday at Barnhills Restaurant on State Road 54 at 12:15 p.m. For information regarding membership, contact Beverly Plummer at 727-847-4417.
