Center offers holiday assistance

HOLIDAY - Joining Hands/Pasco Holiday Center is seeking families in need of a helping hand for the holidays.

The holiday program, a partnership of Metropolitan Ministries and area churches and businesses, will give holiday food and gift assistance to 600 families.

Families wanting to participate must register at United Methodist Church, 3214 U.S. 19, Holiday, in order to participate in the program. Registrants will return to the church in December to choose food and gifts.

Director Nancy Dougherty advises interested parties to register immediately. Last year, the program's first year, had a waiting list, Dougherty noted.

Families must meet one of the following criteria:

•Families with children under 18

•Current Social Security Insurance or Social Security Disability recipient

•Senior citizens 65 or older

•Grandparents with custodial guardianship
Registration times are 1 to 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.Applicants will need documentation. For information on registration guidelines and documentation, call 727-937-3268.
