NEW PORT RICHEY - Promoted as a recreational youth sports league that is open for players of any and all skill levels, i9 Sports is accepting registrations for its winter flag football and cheerleading seasons.
Early registration ends Nov. 1 and closes completely by Dec. 22. The rates for any sport are $99 if registering early and $109 afterward. Any male or female participant 4-15 years of age is welcome.
The league has been in Pasco County for three years now and it also runs soccer and basketball seasons along with flag football and cheerleading.
Jimmy Barbarise, an i9 Sports spokesman, said the organization's allure is based on its differentiations when compared to other leagues.
"What makes us stand out is that regardless of any kid's skill sets or attributes, they get to play just as much as everybody else," he said.
The league is also game driven. Barbarise said there is a limit to one practice max per week.
"We understand how busy families are and that gas is expensive, so that's how we mitigate expenses as well," he said.
The flag football is broken into four leagues based on age and is 6-on-6. The seven-game season begins Jan. 10 and runs through mid-March, including playoffs.
Barbarise said he is expecting roughly 50 teams throughout Pasco this winter. West County games are played at W.H. Jack Mitchell Park in New Port Richey and Veterans Memorial Park in Hudson.
