Brian Nelson's letter to the editor, "Obama's Lies," failed to cite any lies that Obama told. He stated that Obama had convinced "desperate people" that he's the savior of the universe. Although I don't consider Sen. Obama a savior, I am convinced he'll try to reverse the economic and diplomatic policies that have weakened this country.

Mr. Nelson contends that Sen. Obama's tax plan will cause small businesses to fail. Sen. Obama's tax plan helps small business and further rewards businesses who create new jobs for American workers.

In his letter, Mr. Nelson stated, "Bush was a bad President, but the Democratic majority ruled during his reign." In fact, the Democrats have only had the majority for about 20 months.

Finally, Mr. Nelson suggests that if Sen. Obama is elected, "we can kiss democracy goodbye." Although bigger government could create a more socialist economic system, it doesn't mean the government is less democratic.

The Republicans have controlled both house of Congress for 10 of the last 11½ years. They have controlled the Presidency for the last seven and a half years. I am desperate for a new direction.
