Tis' the season for things that go bump in the night.
What better way to set the stage than attend an art exhibit and Halloween bash 6 - 9 p.m. at Trinity Commons, 7813 Mitchell Boulevard on Saturday, Oct. 18. This is a first-of-its-kind event at the shopping center that is between Seven Springs Boulevard and Little Road.
The evening promises to hold just about everything for everyone.
Local artists and photographers will exhibit their one-of-a-kind creations; free food, candy for youngsters, and a wine tasting with meet the candidate Paula O'Neil, who is running for Clerk of Court.
Trinity Pet Hospital is having a craft sale, free pizza and wine by the glass for a $5 donation with proceeds benefiting Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
Attendees will experience an unusual collection of photography by Paula Showen and Cheryl Molennor. According to Showen "the photographs will be reflectionism in style that captures the dark side of emotions and relationships."
Reflectionism is a philosophy that holds the universe reflects back the energy a person puts out.
Most of the photographs are being shot specifically for the event, she added. Both photographers are stepping outside of their normal style of photography.
Well known artist, Michelle Astuto-Collins will present "Welcome to my imagination-Please excuse the mess," which consists of pieces she created where she steps outside of familiar territory and captures emotions through the bold use of colors.
Susan Holland, mixed media artist who appeared at Progress Energy Art Gallery this summer will mesmerize attendees with the "Cat Keeper." Holland will display masks she creates using elements from nature while combining them with fabrics, beads and acrylic paint to complete the creations,
Folk artist Judy Case Redder will join the event with more traditional folk art she produces using acrylics and color pencils. Case Redder specializes in custom artwork that include the subjects' personal thoughts, home, items and memories into the paintings she is commissioned to create.
Casey Yaskovic includes his psychedelic artwork to bring color and unusual subject matter to the evening.
Aqua Terra, a salon that offers a full range of services, from hair cuts to massages, is sponsoring food by La Dolce Vita, including stuffed sausage pinwheels, a mini version of the Greek spinach pie spanakopita, foccacia bread with tomato and garlic, and chicken salad.
Sample Evil chardonnay and cabernet wines from Austria, as well as white and red house wines from California at The Wine Loft where folks can meet candidate O'Neil from 5:30 - 8 p.m.
The hosts of the event will don costumes to set the mood and attendees are welcome to join in wearing costumes.
