This is in response to Anthony Giorlando's Oct. 4 letter regarding an ad from the Barack Obama campaign on how John McCain still does not know how to operate a computer or send e-mail.
Mr. Giorlando finds the ad insulting and claims it insinuates McCain and anyone else who is computer illiterate is a "dummy". Illiteracy of any type has nothing to do with intelligence, it has to do with being uneducated on a matter. What it actually does is further illustrate how out of touch and unfamiliar with mainstream America McCain seems to many people.
If McCain cannot use a traditional keyboard or mouse because of war injuries, as some claim, why didn't he invest a small portion of his wealth and purchase a hands-free computer interface, as many disabled people do?
Mr. Giorlando claims the ad made him decide to switch his vote from Obama to McCain. Mr. Giorlando has every right to vote for whichever candidate he chooses. It seems peculiar, however, that a voter would change candidates and fundamental principles over such a small issue as a campaign ad – especially with the candidates having completely opposite positions on the real issues, such as the economy, education, health care, social security, foreign policy, the war in Iraq and gun control.
