Book discussions

•Hudson Middle School offers evening book discussions from 6:30 to 8 p.m. once a month in the school's media center. The discussions are led by Media Specialist Michelle Lott. The books can be checked out from the school media center or the public library. Most of the titles are the current Sunshine State Young Readers books for grades 6 - 8.

Upcoming book discussions include: "The Kingdom Keepers," by Ridley Pearson, Oct. 27; "Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life," by Wendy Mass, Nov. 10; and "Red Kayak," by Priscilla Cummings, Dec. 1.

'Black and White' dinner

• The families of Bishop Larkin Catholic School are holding their eighth annual "Dinner and Auction - An Evening in Black and White" at 6 p.m. Nov. 7 at Spartan Manor, 6121 Massachusetts Ave., New Port Richey.

This elegant evening includes complimentary cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, followed by a full sit-down dinner, dessert, music and dancing. There will be both a silent and live auction. Cocktail attire is suggested.

Tickets are $75 and can be purchased by contacting Stefanie Lowrey at 727-862-6981 or by email at slowrey@bishoplarkin.org. All proceeds go directly to BLCS.
