Make It Big

Editor:

I just read the letter to the editor "Big Difference," by Ken Sturmer, in which he gave himself and op-ed page columnist James Hibbs a free pass to "call someone stupid and ignorant." His letter suggests that he has congenital knowledge of those words.

His untruths concerning Republicans and conservatives are nothing more than fear mongering. Expressing his views as he did places him in the ranks of other far-left demagogues. His comparison of conservatives to "fascists" reveals a level of hatred that drives him to do or say anything to discredit the viewpoints of anyone who doesn't agree with him. That's so pathetic it borders on hysteria.

At one point, Sturmer almost achieved sanity when he wrote, "People on the right base their judgments on moral and religious principles." Since when did virtuous, moral, principled behavior become offensive?

Many people are Republicans not simply because they are ethical but because they believe in states' rights. They believe that the centralized government is "by the people" and "for the people." However, they also believe that it should never become lord of the people, denying them individual freedom from government regulation.

He can behave as he wants, but I suggest Sturmer not align himself with other demagogues who use hate words and lies to destroy.
