In his op-ed page column James Hibbs wrote that support for the Florida Marriage Amendment "demonstrated a callous disregard for what is fair and right-and even logical." But the fact is that no homosexual rights were taken away.
What is "fair and right" and "logical" is that the government has no business arbitrarily promoting sexual relationships. What the government does have is a self-interest in supporting marriage, because heterosexual married couples produce children (hopefully raising those children in a stable environment), which ensures the future of our nation and its military, workforce, etc.
U.S. citizens are free to debate what is right and wrong about homosexuality, but biology shows us that men and women have been created as complimentary creatures that come together to produce children. If homosexuals or bisexuals part from that natural relationship, for whatever reason, what's stopping them? If homosexuals are concerned with not being able to visit their partners in the hospital, bring the fight to the hospitals.
But for now, the homosexual crusade to convert the majority of Americans to promote the homosexual lifestyle has been put on hold – until Obama takes office.
