I just finished reading "Forward, Backward," by college student op-ed page columnist James Hibbs.
If his view of the current political arena is shared by his fellow youth, this country is in much deeper distress than we are aware.
Hibbs put forward that we elected the "most qualified man for the job".
This is such a blatant exaggeration of the president-elect's qualifications it is almost hideous.
The man has no presidential leadership attributes. He authored no real legislation, unless you count his books about his missing father as legislation.
He won merely because minority voters were enamored with the thought of a minority president.
As for Proposition 2, which Hibbs opposed, most of Florida is conservative.
Miami and the surrounding area, while having a huge population that is predominately made of Hispanics and other national minorities, is really the only area that voted against Proposition 2.
Most of the rest of Florida voted yes as it speaks to their conservative nature.
Hibbs should probably move to the West Coast, where they have lost all moral fiber and good values.
I really hope he is not representative of today's youth.
