Thank God the two-year, $2.4 billion presidential election finally is over. Now, as a 77-year-old lifelong Democrat I can proudly state: 1.) I tuned out the ridiculous event a couple of months after it started. 2.) I did not contribute one copper penny to any candidate.
And I did not vote. Or I should say I "no-voted" in protest of the grossly ridiculous voting system now employed.
As for the multimillions of people who did waste two years of their lives listening to and foolishly donating their time and hard-earned dollars to the candidates of their choice, I can only say "get a life."
It only takes half a brain to realize presidential campaigns are costing too much and taking too long. Something has to be done.
How about an even playing field for all the candidates? The entire campaign should only be six months long. Two months for the primaries and four months for presidential. No state touring. All campaigning would only be done on free national television.
Equal time for all candidates. It could be done.
