Salonika's Bait and Tackle, 727-849-6377: The shallows around Dutchman Key, on the northeastern corner of Anclote Key, have been giving up a good number of trout. Fish 15 to 18 inches are taking live shrimp, and one angler stopped by the shop with a limit of fish. A few reds were caught between Salt Springs and the stilt houses just offshore north of the Cotee River. Fish have been running 18 to 24 inches and taking live shrimp and sardines. Fish also have been closer to shore, on oyster bars and up around mangroves when the water is up.

Most of the pompano have been 13 to 14 inches, while permit 16 to 18 inches have been landed. Doc's Goofy Jigs tipped with shrimp have been working well. Yellow and white has been the best color. A number of nice trout have been taken there, as well, with fish to 23 inches reported. Live shrimp and jigs with soft plastic tails have been working. The bites have been off and on, running about two hours before they shut down. Dwayne from the shop was trolling Rattle-Trap plugs over sand patches on the flats east of the Intracoastal Waterway off Palm Harbor and took a number of flounder. Fish ranged in size from about 15 inches up to better than 20 inches. He reports taking fish from Howard Park to the Dunedin Causeway. He also fished docks inside the Anclote River, catching a 30-inch snook that took a live pinfish. He released a number of small snook. His prize of the week was a 4-pound pompano he took on a Silly Willy jig tipped with shrimp at the power plant outfall canal. Pasco No. 1 reef has been giving up some jumbo mackerel of late. Fish to 6 pounds have been taking on trolled spoons behind planers. Boats reported taking between a half-dozen and 15 fish on their trips to the reef. Pasco No. 2 reef has been a place to find keeper-sized cobia. A few fish were reported, with most 34 to 40 inches. Live pinfish and jumbo shrimp did most of the work.
Dunedin Bait and Tackle, 727-736-3474: Spanish mackerel have been running at the drawbridge on the Dunedin Causeway. Fish 18 to 20 inches have been taking live sardines, Gotcha Plugs and Clark's silver spoons well. A few reds were reported by anglers fishing both causeway bridges. Fish 20 to 24 inches have been typical. They are biting live shrimp and Berkley 3-inch Gulp Strips in natural color.
Redington Long Pier, 727-391-9398: The mackerel have been around in good numbers, even if the kings that were around the pier seem to have pulled out for now. Fish 15 to 18 inches have been typical, taking Clark's silver spoons, Gotcha Plugs and shrimp. Live sardines under floats also are being used effectively. A number of flounder are being landed most days. Fish to 17 inches have been average, though a couple of fish up to 24 inches have been caught. Shrimp on the bottom or bounced on jig heads across the bottom have been working well.
