NEW PORT RICHEY - Rotary Club members in West Pasco will play hosts to five visitors from Italy through Saturday.
The exchange group from Rotary District 2030 in Italy will make stops at the New Port Richey, Seven Springs, Trinity, Holiday, Port Richey and Hudson Rotary clubs.
"My family is just elated" to play host to one of the visitors, said Kathyrn "Kat" Sille, a Rotary Club of Trinity member. "My kids are just beside themselves with excitement."
Sille and husband Robby have four children, Austin, Braydon, Claudia and Wolf, ranging in ages from 8 to 19.
"This is our first experience as a host family," Sille added. The Sille family doesn't speak much Italian, so they hope one of the visitors, Maria Carola Morozzo, can speak some English.
Morozzo is an architect specializing in nautical and naval designs. Her four traveling companions are retired banker Stefano Piola, pediatric surgeon Dr. Germana Casaccia, lawyer Elisa Fois and Silvia Caffa, a manager of environmental standards.
Their whirlwind tour starts today, Wednesday, with a visit at New Port Richey Rotary. The guests will settle in later for dinner with host families.
Breakfast with the Seven Springs Rotary will kick off the Thursday itinerary. A tour of an area hospice will follow before the Italian exchange group heads for Hudson Rotary at lunch time.
An afternoon meeting with Pasco county commissioners is planned. A dinner meeting at Fatty -n- Mabel's Riverside Eatery will give Holiday Rotary and Port Richey Rotary members a chance to meet the guests. A brief cruise might be added after dinner.
Friday's schedule will get under way with a visit with the Pasco Economic Development Council before heading to Trinity Rotary at lunch time. Tours of hospital facilities are scheduled Friday afternoon. Dinner follows at Cafe Grand before guests relax at Richey Suncoast Theater for an evening performance of "Fame."
After catching their collective breaths Saturday morning, the Italian visitors will gather for a cookout at Robert K. Rees Memorial Park, in the New Port Richey area, and then some boating and jet skiing. A Saturday evening party will wrap up the visitors' trip here.
"We're all very proud of what our club and Rotary does for the community as well as the impact it has on the world," Sille said.
