NEW PORT RICHEY - Good Samaritan Health Clinic recently unveiled its four winners in the second annual Nurses of the Year Awards banquet.
Sue Dietrich, a registered nurse who works for HPH Home Care, a nonprofit unit of Hernando Pasco Hospice, earned the People's Choice Award, according to Melissa Fahy, the chief executive officer of the charitable clinic.
Top nurses at West Pasco's three major hospitals were saluted as well. They are registered nurses Mary Egan of Community Hospital of New Port Richey, Leo Jacoby of Morton Plant North Bay Hospital and Kathy Santana of Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point.
The winners were among the 20 nominees picked by their peers. Each winner was presented a sash, flowers and a plaque.
The clinic's signature event raised $61,000 to help uninsured, low-income patients to receive free medical treatment, Fahy reported.
Dr. Stephan Goldman, chairman of the Good Samaritan board, shared his vision of the clinic. Fahy recognized staff, committee members and local dignitaries.
Glenn Hanff served as master of ceremonies. Cardiologist Dr. Rao Musunuru was the main speaker.
Atria Senior Living Group provided the food at the banquet.
