Charley Reese's defense of Sami Al-Arian in his column in your May 3 print editions was outrageous. Al-Arian has been convicted of being the major fundraiser for Islamic Wahhabi terrorists in the United States.
When we confronted him regarding jihad against America, he countered that jihad was merely Arab hyperbole. In other words "kill" did not mean "kill." When the Patriot Act allowed the government to seize his letters indicating his money-laundering activities he explained "those letters I wrote them, but I never mailed them."
There is no question that al-Arian is not just a defender of Palestinian rights. He is instead an extremely dangerous terrorist operator. Our government is absolutely within its rights to have him rot in jail. Deporting him would provide Hamas with a dangerous ally.
In conclusion, we must question the role of Charley Reese in defending this Wahhabi terrorist. Once a strong defender of Israel, Reese has become a questionable advocate of the Palestinians. We can only conclude that he is on the payroll of the Saudis.
