SUNCOAST NEWS STAFF REPORT
NEW PORT RICHEY - All registered voters in Pasco County will get new Voter Information Cards in the mail beginning Monday, May 5, Supervisor of Elections Brian E. Corley, has announced.
The wallet-sized card is part of the public education plan regarding the change to optical-scan voting equipment. Illustrations and instructions will show voters how to complete the paper ballot and use the scanners.
The cards also contain information such as the voter's party affiliation, congressional districts, polling location and precinct number.
Voters who do not have current information filed with the Supervisor of Elections' office will not receive a new information card. Although one will be mailed, information cards can not be forwarded and will be returned to the elections' office as undeliverable.
The informational cards are not intended to be used as identification. State law still requires identification with a photo and signature, such as a driver's license, when voters go to the polls. Without proper identification, voters will have to cast a provisional ballot.
Voters should scan the information cards and report any changes to the elections' office as soon as possible.
