NEW PORT RICHEY - Babies from needy families might get a faster start in life, thanks to a diaper collection drive which continues through early next week. It will conclude with a free baby shower on May 10.
Diaper Drop will seek contributions of diapers and new baby items at seven area collection sites, according to Wendy Seymour. She is community liaison of Healthy Start Coalition of Pasco, which is spearheading the drive.
"We are pleased to accept diapers in all sizes, especially larger sizes and any new baby items," Seymour said.
Diaper Drop continues until early next week.
The drive concludes with a Baby Shower Extravaganza on Saturday, May 10. The free event will be "open to all moms, moms-to-be and families with children," Seymour said.
The baby shower will take place from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. May 10 at Little Achievers Learning Academy preschool, 4129 U.S. 19.
Activities are planned for children at the baby shower. All expecting moms will receive a goody bag. Music, refreshments, games and door prizes will be offered.
