Photo Exhibit On Display At City Hall

NEW PORT RICHEY - NEW PORT RICHEY - NEW PORT RICHEY -- Beauty is not only in the eye of the beholder but those who can capture it in a flash.

The Chasco Camera Club, a local group of amateur photographers is displaying their photographs in the halls of the New Port Richey City Hall, located on Main Street.

The exhibit runs through the end of August and represents the ninth year the club has exhibited at city hall.

A combination of both traditional and digital photography comprise the exhibit.

Thirteen different photographers are represented with a total of 39 distinctive compositions, which include local points of interest, international scenes and landscapes from across the nation.

The exhibit reflects the talents of each photographer in a polished, professional manner giving the viewer a bird's eye view into the abilities of the photographers and how they perceive their surrondings.

New Port Richey residents Georgia Robinson and husband George are among those who submitted photographs to be included in the exhibit.

Natives of Brooklyn, the duo are both trained in the arts and travel extensively. They continually carry their cameras and primarily shoot using digital technology.

"The rules are the same," commented Georgia regarding using film versus digital cameras.

However, she finds digital cameras miraculous. "Digital technology has opened the medium up to others who were intimidated by traditional photography methods," she said. The duo often head out on a mission and find it may change and evolve. Georgia photographs subjects as they appear and is pleasantly surprised when they are converted from color to black and white.

The other photographers with work featured in the City Hall exhibition are Connie Wilson, Al Oberlander, Bob Gates, Herb Swanson, Barbara Witowski, Joe Constantino, Dottie Smorol, Janet Stein, Marge Comitto, Strat Simon and Charlie Srsich.The Chasco Camera Club, formed in 1973, has 37 members who are dedicated to the hobby of photography.
