There was no blue in the blueberry fest. Yet another event coordinated by Greater New Port Richey Main Street.
While strolling during last week's Blueberry Shop 'n' Stroll, I heard many people asking vendors "Where are the blueberries?" The answer: At the other end of downtown.
So we walked and found a booth from Brenda Short's Berry Barn, in Hudson. It had products containing blueberries, but again no sight of blueberries.
I asked the vendors at this booth, who own a blueberry farm, where are the blueberries? Answer: Blueberries are out of season. The season is March through May. What month is this now? June?
Wow. Imagine holding a blueberry festival without blueberries.
I finally found six pints of blueberries at the Market on Main Street for $3.49 a pint. A pint at Wal-Mart cost $2.99.
Maybe Greater New Port Richey Main Street organizers need to travel to some festivals and takes notes so they can reach out correctly to the visitors and hometown people with events that bring people back to New Port Richey.
