Clearwater Bait and Tackle, 727-669-5455: Anglers fishing over the weekend under the bridge to Sand Key found mangrove snapper 12 to 13 inches, with a few as large as 15 inches. The west end of the Courtney Campbell Causeway along the north side has been a good area for trout. Fish 16 to 24 inches have been taking shrimp and live sardines under floats in 3 to 5 feet of water. A few reds 22 to 26 inches have been taken in the same area. Jacks have been taking live and artificial baits around the west bridge on the causeway.

Dunedin Bait and Tackle, 727-736-3474: A good number of trout have been caught at the southwest end of Honeymoon Island. The west side of the Intracoastal Waterway, along the spoils behind Caladesi Island, has been holding some reds. Fish to oversized have been common, but some slot fish around 24 inches have been caught. Trout 15 to 18 inches have been taken in the same area, along with snook closer to the mangroves of the island.

A number of tarpon have been jumped along the south side of the Honeymoon Island, with fish to 150 pounds reported. Large sardines and pass crabs have been good baits. The beach on the west side of Anclote Key has been another good snook spot, with fish to 40 inches hooked on live shrimp, sardines and plugs. Fish are being released, because of the closed season. Reds have been running 25 to 35 inches along the spoil islands of the Intracoastal Waterway in Dunedin. Shrimp and jigs have been working well.
