NEW PORT RICHEY -- Rodney S. Taylor has announced his retirement after more than 20 years as president and chief executive officer of Hernando-Pasco Hospice.
He will turn over the leadership position that he has held since 1986 to Thomas D. Barb on Monday, July 14.
Taylor, 62, a long-time Hudson-area resident, has been the catalyst behind Hernando-Pasco Hospice becoming one of the largest nonprofit end-of-life-care agencies in the United States.
Hernando-Pasco Hospice initially was licensed in 1984. Since Taylor took over two years later its number of patients has grown from 54 to more than 1,100 today.
In addition to the hospice, Taylor also established a nonprofit home health care agency that serves 230 patients daily and a small 10-bed assisted living facility. Taylor also formed the HPH Pharmacy and Medical Equipment Co., in 1999.
HPH is now a $65 million nonprofit corporation.
Taylor's successor Barb, a Hernando Beach resident, has more than 30 years of health management experience and has served on HPH's board of directors since 2006.
