Beloved oldies are set to walk listeners down memory lane when "Smokey Joe's Cafe" opens Friday at the Show Palace Dinner Theatre in Hudson.
The longest running musical revue in Broadway history, "Smokey Joe's Cafe" showcases 39 standard tunes.
They include "Fools Fall in Love," "On Broadway" and "Stand By Me," by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. Other numbers are "Hound Dog," "Kansas City" and "Love Potion Number Nine."
The show opened on Broadway in 1995 and closed in 2000.
It was nominated for seven Tony Awards and won a Grammy Award in 1995.
Leiber and Stoller were inducted into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
This production will mark a return to the Show Palace, where it ran in 2005, for "Smokey Joe's Cafe."
"It was a real success," said company manager Susan Haldeman. "Every generation knows the music."
The ensemble cast features artists with extensive musical theater backgrounds.
Phillip Boykin has toured in Asia, Europe and North America. Sara DelBeato returns to the Show Palace after having just completed a tour of "Arthur, Live!" and has appeared in 400 musicals.
Illeana Kirven has toured nationally in "The Sunshine Boys" with actor and impressionist Frank Gorshin and former "Eight is Enough" star Dick Van Patten.
The production sports a full band.
Audiences should expect "outstanding energetic performances and big, vibrant numbers," Haldeman said.
She predicts there will be a lot of moving and shaking going on during performances, both from cast and audience. "This is one of the shows where you'll definitely see people bopping and singing along."
