NEW PORT RICHEY - The search for missing or abducted children is going digital.
The Pasco Sheriff's Office plans to launch a program soon, Operation Find Me, to give away USB flash drives to parents of youngsters, Public Information Director Kevin Doll confirms.
Vital information, photos and other files can be transferred onto the USB flash drive, also called thumb drives, which plug into any computer.
If a child becomes lost or abducted, the parents merely have to give the thumb drive to a Pasco deputy or other police officer, as outlined in an article in the latest Sheriff's Newsletter.
Doll said the program might be ready within the month. Details will be posted to the Sheriff's Office Web site at www.pascosheriff.com>.
