Gallery Seeking Art, Photos for Calendar

NEW PORT RICHEY -- One thing you can count on is that time turns into seasons, which turn into months.

Progress Energy Gallery, a not-for-profit organization has placed a call to artists and photographers for their yearly calendar contest. Proceeds will benefit the gallery, which is in historic downtown New Port Richey.

Deadline for submission is Wednesday, Oct. 15, and is limited to two submissions per artist. Entry fees are $15 for one submission and two submissions are $25.

The gallery requests that images measure exactly 8 by 10 inches and be printed on quality paper, which will be used to create the calendars. They will not accept original pieces of artwork since they can not be returned.

Last year the gallery received 15 pieces of original artwork consisting of subjects ranging from landscapes through nature. The contest is open to both color and black and white images.

The gallery's staff and volunteers will judge the contest.

There will be about 55 calendars reproduced in two formats. Two calendars will be available with one being a 12-month calendar. The second will be a one page calendar containing all 12 images on the top half with the bottom consisting of tear away months.

The pieces chosen will be announced on the gallery Web site on Wednesday, Oct. 22.

Entry forms are available at www.nprgallery.com following the Gallery Haps link. Submit entries by mail or in person at the gallery, which is at 6231 Grand Blvd.
