What does state Sen. Carey Baker, R-Eustis, the Senate transportation chairman, have against the drivers and car passengers of Florida?
Does he have something against Rep. Rich Glorioso, D-Plant City, and Sen. Nan Rich, D-Sunrise, who, respectively, sponsored House Bill 11 and Senate Bill 94, which would have given Florida a standard enforcement seat belt bill earlier this year?
Obviously he does, because 92 percent of the general public and 62 bill co-sponsors in the House and Senate supported the bill, but Sen. Baker refused to let his Transportation Committee hear this bill.
Sen. Baker knew this bill could have saved 142 lives and prevented 2,019 serious accidents in the first year alone. But he just didn't think our suffering was worth saving.
