NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - A 35-year-old woman in the Moon Lake area was taken into custody Wednesday in connection with the recent shooting of a 16-year-old neighbor boy, according to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office arrest report.

Christine Elaine Lightfoot, 11916 Boca Grande Ave., New Port Richey, was arrested on a felony count of aggravated battery. Her bail initially was set at $10,000.

Lightfoot has denied shooting the victim, Russell Litten, the report states.

After he was shot in the stomach Jan. 15, Litten was flown to Bayfront Medical Center, where his condition was initially listed as stable.

The bullet lodged between Litten's bladder and tailbone and remains there, although the teen has been released from the St. Petersburg hospital, the Sheriff's Office announced Thursday afternoon.

Here is the account of the shooting incident given by the Sheriff's Office:

Lightfoot used a .22-caliber rifle to shoot Litten. The youth had been standing in the driveway of Lightfoot's home while she stood in the garage. She became angry at comments Litten made about her former boyfriend.

Lightfoot told her 13-year-old son to fetch the firearm and then pointed the rifle at the victim, made a comment she intended to shoot and fired one round at the youth.

According to the update released today, Lightfoot's son said to his mother after the shooting, "You shot him," and she stated, "I know."

When deputies first interviewed the suspect, however, Lightfoot said she had been in the garage at the time of the shooting, but she had thrown down the rifle onto a work bench without firing it. She heard a shot fired as she looked away, Lightfoot told investigators.

Later, after being advised of her rights, Lightfoot denied shooting the victim, according to the initial arrest report.
