Port Richey, Fla. - Port Richey, Fla. - PORT RICHEY - A water main break on U.S. 19 early this morning has prompted the city to issue a boil-water notice for municipal water customers who live north of the Westport subdivision, city officials said.
The water main break, thought to have been caused by the overnight blast of cold weather, resulted in a loss of pressure to the city's water system, affecting about 1,000 residential and commercial customers west and east of the highway.
Utilities workers were repairing the line this afternoon, and pressure was expected to be back to normal by tonight.
Residents should bring water for drinking or cooking to a rolling boil for about one minute or use bottled water.
The boil-water notice will remain in effect until the problem has been fixed, city officials said.
For information, call city hall at (727) 816-1900.
