NEW PORT RICHEY – The Suncoast Arts Fest, scheduled for April 26 and 27, has extended the application deadline for would-be exhibitors.
The deadline for artists of fine art and craft artists is now March 15.
In the past two years the show, formerly known as the Longleaf Fine Arts Show, has drawn upward of 60 artists.
The Suncoast Arts Fest is organized by the Fine Arts of the Suncoast, a nonprofit organization. Its goal is providing quality art shows, promote art for children and raising awareness of arts in Pasco County.
Each year funds from the event help meet the visual and performing art needs of children in Pasco County schools, both private and public.
To guarantee the funds are used appropriately, art teachers serve on the funding advisory committee of Fine Arts of the Suncoast.
"We opted to change the name to Suncoast Arts Fest for a broader regional appeal, and 'Fest' seemed a great fit with the inclusion of performing and culinary arts to the existing quality visual arts show" said Pam Marron, president of The Fine Arts of the Suncoast.
The show will include an automobile and Harley display sponsored by Ferman Fine Autos and Gulf Coast Harley Davidson, two of the shows presenting sponsors.
Additional attractions will include "Taste of Pasco," a food vendor area where tickets will be sold allowing individuals to sample culinary specialties.
Entertainment will be provided by Tampa station WMNF-FM Community Radio, including live local entertainment and performing arts.
A technology center with sponsor expo area will be incorporated into the show.
A special area will be designated for emerging artists, which include young people in the 10th, 11th and 12th grades.
In addition to the call for artists, the show is in need of volunteers to assist the weekend of the show.
Artists and anyone interested in volunteering should visit www.suncoastartsfest.com for guidelines and applications. Call 727-534-3445 for more information.
