I read with some dismay Cheryl Bentley's Feb. 9 op-ed page column, "Healer, Heal Thyself." I feel so sorry for her friend's unfortunate experience with the U.S. health-care system.
We have been in Florida for about 26 years. Because my husband is a diabetic and a heart patient, we have met many kind and attentive doctors, including primary-care physicians and surgeons.
My husband underwent quadruple-bypass surgery last August. Our wonderful and compassionate primary care physician, Dr. Mahender Reddy, cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Ravi Sharma and the surgical staff at the Heart Institute at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point cared for him in the best manner you could imagine.
I cannot praise them enough for their tender love and care.
Oh, by the way, he came home four days after the surgery and came through with hardly any pain.
I give God the praise for these wonderful people – all who cared for him and had a wonderful rapport with our family.
