I was disappointed to find such a hard-right slant on your Feb. 6 op-ed page. Roger Hernandez told us in his column not to like Hugo Chavez. He says Chavez has been giving millions of barrels of discounted heating oil to impoverished Americans, but I'm supposed to dislike him because he is a socialist.
Rich Lowry was doing the usual Republican trick, taking words and twisting them to suit his agenda – that the word Fascism applies to liberals.
And last you have Charley Reese, who rails against George Bush, rightfully so, writes about the common sense of social programs like Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security and public education but calls himself a conservative.
Conservatives who take advantage of Social programs like the above-mentioned but think Capitalism solves everything have been duped by the corporate-financed and controlled Republican Party.
People should re-visit the encyclopedia and read the meaning of the words like liberal and socialism, which they have been trained to hate by the media, also owned by the same guys who fund the Republican Party.
The painful truth is that no matter how hard you try, the odds are stacked against you. God help you if you get sick because the Republicans won't.
