PORT RICHEY, Fla. - PORT RICHEY, Fla. - More than 140 roller skaters of all ages representing 17 figure skating clubs will flock to the area for the sixth annual Presidents Day Invitational next Saturday and Sunday.
On Feb. 16 and 17 the Florida Skating Academy, in cooperation with the Spinnations Skating Center, 8435 Congress St., will play host for the two-day event.
Local academy members are putting the finishing touches on their routines for the competition.
U.S. Bronze Medalist Caroline Bell, 14, of New Port Richey, will skate in the figures competition and junior world class international solo.
Port Richey newcomers Nicole Ogloza, Jennie Kratzer, Kaitlyn Shaw and Tara Walter are also entered to skate.
A dozen youngsters from the Spinnations skating classes will also try their hand at competing for the first time.
Ninety-seven events will take place from 6:30 a.m. and 10 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday, doors also open at 6:30 a.m. for the contests, which will wrap up by 6:30 p.m.
The junior and senior world class singles and pairs short programs are scheduled for Saturday. Longer programs will be Saturday evening and Sunday. The adult dance event divisions and youth events will skate both Saturday and Sunday.
