For some time I have been witnessing an outburst of hate propaganda written by a small but noisy group of disconnected-from-reality individuals. Some of them demand censor of Charley Reese via the dropping of his column from your paper. They are entitled to express their opinions, regardless of the confused, fuzzy claptrap they present.

Uncivilized comments and personal attacks against this well-versed journalist has no place in this media. Instead it should be directed at some agitprop-chik or traded within their own circles.

The silent majority of readers can only be offended and irritated by name calling and out-of-control demagoguery of the sort seen in this space on Dec. 29 in a letter calling Reese a "complete idiot."

The writers of this sort of letter should be denied space on this page, not for disseminating their muddled thinking but for their offensive language and lack of self-control. Reese is one of the best journalists around, and it is a great honor to read his columns. I bet his foes can't wait to read his next column either.
