Business Blends Coffee and Ceramics

TRINITY, Fla. - TRINITY, Fla. - Michael Capozzoli proudly showed off the cup and saucer he had painted. He plans to use them on his daily visits to grab a cup of joe at Paint UR Pieces, a ceramic studio-cafe that opened here in mid-January.

There, customers can paint a ceramic of their chose while sipping assorted coffee concoctions.

Owners Linda Sessa and Lindsey Seddon think their 1,200-square-foot establishment is West Pasco's first studio-cafe.

They got the idea after visiting a similar business in Tampa.

"We saw what a great idea it was, how everyone was connecting," said Sessa.

While sipping on a latte, customers can free their inner artists by painting one of a wide variety of unfinished ceramic pieces. Painting fees are adults $10 and children $8. Cost of ceramics range from $2 to $28.

The shop furnishes all painting supplies.

After customers finish painting, the owners glaze the unfinished pieces and fire them in an on-site kiln.

Sessa and Seddon are also partners in a Trinity-area real estate appraisal company, S & S Real Estate Service.

That is where they became serious coffee drinkers. Before opening their cafe, they worked with Jaquar Coffee Co. in Spring Hill to develop their own house blend that is "not too strong, not too weak. We wanted something you could drink all day," said Sessa.

The women are now in the process of getting a beer and wine license.

The cafe has a way of bringing out the inner child in even the most hesitant adult, said Seddon. "Adults turn into 3-year-olds showing their work. It's cute."

Paint UR Pieces is at 9945 Trinity Blvd. Its hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday; noon to 5 p.m., Sunday.
