I read with pride your Jan. 26 feature story on young James Garrison's Eagle Scout project, planting native vegetation around Lake Paloma.
James' forebears are descendants of Richard L. Garrison, who received a land grant in 1852 of 162 acres near Spanish Trails for his service to our country during the Second Seminole War.
It has been my honor and privilege to have known members of the family over my past 84 years living in Dunedin. They have a reputation of being strong and sturdy pioneer stock who you could always depend upon.
It is great to see young Garrison carrying on his family's tradition of concern for Planet Earth.
