Sinful Sunday Fundraising Concert To Aid SPCA

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - A Sinful Sunday concert benefit and donation drive on Feb. 10 is among events planned to raise money for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Suncoast.

The concert will help replenish the emergency medical care fund at the local SPCA shelter, 7734 Congress St., to treat sick or injured animals, board member Lia Gallegos explained in a press release.

The concert will start at 2 p.m. this Sunday at Richey Suncoast Theatre, 6237 Grand Blvd., in the downtown area. General admission tickets cost $7 in advance or $10 at the door.

A Valentine's VIP Party, set for 12:30 p.m. at the theater, will precede the concert. Tickets for the party and concert, $35 each, will only be sold in advance.

Julie Black, an area songwriter and vocalist, will perform her second Sinful Sunday concert benefit to help the nonprofit animal shelter. Black will be accompanied by her band.

"We had a fabulous time last year playing to a sold-out show. The audience was really fantastic," Black said in a press release.

Black says she will debut several new songs during the SPCA benefit concert.

Black adds her own original flare to music in the style of the blues, jazz and soul greats from the 1930s through 1950s.

Band members who will perform Sunday are Michael Johnn, keyboards, Dave Eichenberger, guitar, Dennis "Jungle Denny" McCarthy, drums, and "Father" Bill Spicuglia, bass.

The VIP party before the concert will include a silent auction, a meet and greet with Julie, band members, SPCA board members and even a few furry friends from the shelter.
