'Hooray For Hollywood' And Seniors At Trinity Show

Seniors are preparing to sizzle. That's because the 13th annual show presented by the Silver Follies Revue returns to Trinity on Feb. 17.

This year's show, "Hooray for Hollywood," is a salute to Broadway and Hollywood by 38 dancers and 12 singers whose ages range from 57 to 86.

The show's producer and director, Pat Griebel, and her troupe of seniors have been working on the show for a year, starting shortly after last year's production.

According to Griebel, numbers on the program will include tap and jazz dancing, songs from theatrical musicals and films, and comedy.

Griebel is a former professional dancer in dinner theaters in Milwaukee and Chicago who found a second career in West Pasco when bored seniors urged her to teach them to dance.

Today, she works four days a week teaching seniors the performing arts at homeowner association club houses around West Pasco.

With coaching her seniors, choreographing their dances and ordering the elaborate costumes they wear in the acts, it takes her an entire year to prepare of the show, Griebel said.

Participating in the Silver Follies puts a little more spring into senior steps, she said.

"They tell me they have forgotten their aches and pains," she observed. "They're young and alive again and have a great time."

Performances will be at 2 and 7 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 17, at Heritage Springs Country Club, 11345 Robert Trent Jones Parkway, Trinity.

Tickets are $8 and can be reserved by calling Heritage Springs at 727-372-5411. Reservations are recommended, although tickets will be sold at the door.
