Masters' Bait and Tackle, 727-945-7191: The reds have been on oyster bars and around mangroves at the high tides around Howard Park. Fish have been running mostly in the slot range, with some undersized and oversized fish caught. Johnson gold spoons and live shrimp are working. The outfall canal at Anclote power plant has been turning up a few pompano 14 to 18 inches. Fish have been taking Doc's Goofy jigs in white and yellow, with shrimp tips.
Fisherman's World, 727-942-8944: Good numbers of trout were being caught between Howard Park and Crystal Beach. Fish have been along the spoil islands of the waterway, with lots of them in the slot range and a few as large at 4 pounds. D.O.A. shrimp and Gulp strips in new penny color on jig heads have been good baits. Good numbers of pompano have been landed at the Anclote power plant outfall canal. Fish 15 to 17 inches have been taking Doc's Goofy Jigs in yellow and white and tipped with shrimp and pink teaser.
Clearwater Bait and Tackle, 727-669-5455: Anglers fishing the small bridge on the western end of the Courtney Campbell Causeway report taking trout 15 to 20 inches on live shrimp under popping corks. The bite has been better early and late in the day.
Dunedin Bait and Tackle, 727-736-3474: The north side of the Dunedin Causeway has been giving up some fair numbers of trout. Anglers are reporting limits on fish 18 to 20 inches and a few oversized fish. Live shrimp has been the bait of choice. Anglers fishing just off the beach at Hurricane Pass continue to catch a lot of silver trout 10 to 13 inches. Fish have been taking dead shrimp and Love's tandem rig jigs. Trout fishing has been good along the spoil island of the Intracoastal Waterway, from Three Rooker Bar south to Dunedin. Fish have been running 15 to 17 inches and taking shrimp and Berkley Gulp Strips. Sheephead fishing has been on at both bridges on the Dunedin Causeway. Fish 12 to 16 inches have been taking shrimp and barnacles scraped from the pilings. Bluefish have been schooling around the drawbridge on the causeway, with fish 2 to 3 pounds taking spoons and Gotcha Plugs.
Dunedin Fishing Center, 727-738-5628: Anglers wading on the north side of the Dunedin Causeway have been finding some nice trout. Fish have been running 15 to 20 inches for the most part, but a few oversized fish, 24 inches or better, have been caught and released. A few reds were caught in the same area. Live shrimp and small, live pinfish were doing the job.
Pier 60, 727-462-6466: The fishing has been a little slow. Anglers have been focused on silver trout and whiting. The whiting have been running to 13 inches, with the trout topping out around 12 inches. Both have been taking dead shrimp well, the night bite being most productive. A few oversized reds are being caught. Fish 28 to 32 inches have been taking live pinfish and shrimp. No fish small enough to keep were being landed. The night trout bite has been good, but shorts have far outnumbered the few keeper fish of 15 to 16 inches. Live shrimp has been best.
Redington Long Pier, 727-391-9398: A few keeper reds to 22 inches have been landed, with live shrimp and cut sardines producing. The day and night bite has been on. A lot of silver trout 10 to 12 inches are being landed, with a few spotted trout to 16 inches in the mix. Shrimp and various jigs have been working.
