Volunteer recognition

Tara Lukasik, a junior at Gulf High School, was named one of Pasco County Schools' Outstanding School Volunteers for the 2008-09 school year.

Each year, in recognition of the valuable contributions of volunteers, the district honors one volunteer each from three different age divisions: Youth, Adult and Senior.

Lukasik was named the winner in the Youth division for the work she's done with students in first through third grade at Anclote Elementary School. For two years, she has dedicated 12-15 hours per week tutoring and mentoring the youngsters and providing them a role model.

The School Board will recognize Tara and the other winners at its regularly scheduled meeting Feb. 3.
