Cool Breeze Band To Warm Up Crowds

Published: December 24, 2008

It's fun time with The Cool Breeze Band.

"It's like a party atmosphere," said Patti Spoeth-Pfister, the band's booking agent and wife of drummer Brian Pfister.

Cool Breeze will play New Year's Eve at the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 1747, in Hudson.

The five-member rock and beach music band was founded four years ago and plays regularly at West Pasco events.

Lead vocalist Dave Thompson started the band after playing in local bands for several years after taking a 17-year hiatus from music that ended eight years ago. Thompson has a degree in music education from the University of Tennessee and formerly did studio session work in Memphis.

During a stint in the Navy, keyboardist Jim Culpepper played in an officer-sanctioned band on the amphibious transport dock ship USS Cleveland. He now performs with the contemporary worship band Step of Faith at the First United Methodist Church in Hudson.

Lead guitarist Bob Lambert has played with bands Guns-N-Letters and Generator.

Bass and rhythm guitarist Gary Zold started out in the band as a ukulele player before taking up the guitar.

Drummer Brian Pfister, a North Carolina transplant, began writing songs at 17 and has had two of them recorded by young artists.

The band is characterized by its high-energy performances, said booking agent Spoeth-Pfister.

"They get the audience involved," she noted. "Dave and Bob are tireless. They actually get out in the audience and dance with people and sing for them."
