HUDSON - The weather outside was frightful on a cold, rain-swept Friday morning.
But the mood was so delightful inside the cafeteria of Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point for the annual holiday gift basket distribution.
Steve Rector, the hospital's chief executive officer, joined scores of workers in sorting through all the presents and food.
Some 77 needy families in West Pasco will have happy holidays as a result, the Rev. Jack Long, the pastor at the hospital, emphasized.
"It all comes from their hearts," Long said about hospital employees who donate all the presents and food. The families also get gift cards for a turkey at a local supermarket.
Some six schools and social agencies referred the families which will get a boost at Christmas from the annual program.
Swarms of Regional employees borrowed gurneys and other carts to wheel in all the presents filling the cafeteria.
