Since the Presidential election will be held shortly, it is only right we give an overdue "thank you" to the Republican Party for all the things its has done for the nation the past eight years.

Republicans have invaded another country that posed no threat to the U.S. With each revelation from Washington it becomes more likely that Bush and Cheney will be prosecuted for war crimes after they leave office. The Republicans made torture of our enemies acceptable American behavior, endangering our armed forces everywhere in the world. They courted religious extremists and hate groups in our society to gain a few votes. They created the greatest national debt in our history.

What a beautiful legacy the Republicans have left for our children and grandchildren!

And let's not forget to thank Florida Republicans for electing our part-time governor, Charlie Crist, who flies around the country and the world on vacation much of the time and changes his position on issues every time the wind blows. Thanks also to Republican legislators for their failure to solve our property insurance and property tax crises.

Let's hear it for the Republicans for corrupting our government, weakening our Constitution, politicizing our religions and scandalizing our children. They've done a thorough job.
