NEW PORT RICHEY - Never mind Beijing, Nicole Ogloza went to Lincoln, Neb., and struck gold.
The 14-year-old Gulf High School freshman recently competed in the 2008 Roller Figure Skating National Championships. She successfully out-skated 23 other hopefuls to grab first place in the Freshman/Sophomore C Women's singles event.
Nicole also placed fourth out of 32 skaters in the Solo B dance event during the 15-day championship, which this year ran from July 20 to Aug. 3.
In only her second full year skating, the dedicated skater trains five days a week at the Spinnations Skating Center, in Port Richey, Angela Serini, Florida Skating Academy publicist, said in a press release.
