Aug. 26 primary is just around the corner. Campaign signs are all over the road. One of the signs says re-elect County Commissioner Jack Mariano.
I had a chance to meet Jack Mariano at a Sea Ranch Civic Association function. I asked him, "Why would you need all those campaign signs on the roadside?" His answer was, "I have others running against me."
I asked, "You just completed your first term?" His answer was yes. I asked, "You really think after your first term, the voters are going to put someone else in your place to start all over?"
I don't think so. Especially, as a new commissioner Mariano has been doing an excellent job. No way voters will elect someone else to start learning his job all over again.
I also met with Bill Bunting, chairman of the Pasco Republican Party. He asked me to change my party affiliation from independent to Republican. I'm glad. This way I can vote for all of you who are doing a good job as an elected official.
From personal experience I have had good results when dealing with both Jack Mariano and Bill Bunting.
