It never astounds me to observe the ignorance expressed by many Floridians. Most of the time I do not bother to read local papers, they just annoy me. The Aug. 2 edition of The Suncoast News did not fail.
I take issue with two letter writers. One accuses Barack Obama of calling babies, punishment. If he would read his own words he would see what Obama was talking about: young girls having unwanted babies because of ignorance over personal decisions, and morals. It's truly evil when activists lump all children into one basket. Not every fetus coming into this world is "a gift from God."
Then another writer chastises the presidential candidates for not advocating Nuclear Power. Does the letter writer actually know what he is talking about? Nuclear power is excessively expensive. It also produces waste that, besides being deadly, lasts for thousands of years.
Maybe the writer needs to talk to someone in Nevada or Washington State and see what they think of nuclear power. I moved here from Washington. We voted to ban all nuclear power plants in the state some years ago. The last nuclear plant there was dismantled more than 10 years ago.
