This is in response to James Hibbs' July 26 op-ed page column "Self-Inflicted Woe," in which he said John McCain is responsible for the media coverage he is receiving. The media is infatuated with Barack Obama and has been for quite a while. And it's not keeping this a secret. When Hillary Clinton was in the race the media did everything but draw straws to show who their favorite candidate was. This was so obvious "Saturday Night Live" did a skit on the subject.

Now that it's McCain vs. Obama, why should the media end its feeding frenzy? Newspaper headlines proclaim Obama's doings and whereabouts. Radio talk shows make him the topic du jour.

So maybe McCain is correct in his assumption about the media's "supposed," in Mr. Hibbs' words, love affair with Obama. This, however, is not McCain's fault. It is the people like James Hibbs, who make ignorant public statements. He has a right to an opinion, just let there be some truth to it.

The media obsession with Obama is this is a wonderful way to get the wrong person elected president.
