NEW PORT RICHEY - Accused of having sex with a 17-year-old student, former substitute teacher Lisa Robyn Marinelli entered a written plea of not guilty this morning to the felony rape charge she faces.

Marinelli, 40, did not appear in court for today's arraignment. She is charged with sexual battery of a 16- or 17-year-old person by someone 24 or older.

She was arrested in March after she was accused of having sex with a Mitchell High School student. The school district fired her Feb. 29 after learning of the allegations.

The New Port Richey resident did most of her substitute teaching at Mitchell High, although she also substituted a couple of days at Seven Springs Middle School, school officials said.

The sheriff's office began its investigation after the student's father told investigators he saw his son getting out of Marinelli's car Feb. 27.

The boy told investigators he had sex with Marinelli 10 times between Jan. 12 and Feb. 27, usually in her car.
