As the presidential candidates draw nearer to being either voted in or off the stage while huffing and puffing their independent messages of hope and change, I have become more confused by the day. These seemingly untiring, sometimes robotic competitors have left me with one intended agenda; that of applying for a course in Political Theory 101.
The over-analyzation by the media of each candidate's dream for a better world does little to make the voter's job easier.
I am also beginning to believe these jet lagged hopefuls are starting to appear either masochistic or self-absorbed. How in the world could one individual stay strong enough to sustain a breakfast speech on the west coast, a luncheon speech in the Midwest and finally a dinner speech on the east coast all the while being scrutinized on the morning, afternoon and evening news broadcasts for days and months at a time.
We can only trust that when our votes are counted, the winner will have been chosen not by outward trappings of custom suits, constant smiles and unflappable, indefatigable demeanor, but by the inward less visible signs of honesty, integrity and patriotism.
