West Pasco Habitat for Humanity presented the Mills and Jenkins families with keys to their new homes at dedication ceremonies Oct. 27 in Moon Lake.
Families receiving homes were Katherine Jenkins and her daughters, Skylar and Alyssa; and Robert and Michelle Mills and their children - Rebekah, Robert, Tommy and Ashley. Both families will move into their new abodes this week.
The ceremony included an invocation and presentation of Bibles by Rev. Dan Campbell of Community United Methodist Church. The Church also provided music by the Praise Team.
Judy DeMeglio presented the winners with the traditional framed embroidered sampler created by the Gulfview Chapter of the Embroiders Club of America.
Guest speaker George Romagnoli, community development manager for Pasco County, described the turning over of affordable homes to county residents as the highlight of his job and hoped they could do 25 dedications a year. Romagnoli's department partners with West Pasco Habitat for Humanity.
Habitat homes are built by community volunteers, as well as the families receiving the homes. Construction is made possible by materials donated by local and national suppliers. Recipient families will pay mortgages on the actual costs for the home, which thereby makes the homes affordable.
